THE CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE
The Catholic Women's League of Canada, established in 1920, is a national organization that empowers Catholic women in their faith and service. They engage in charity work, social justice initiatives, and community projects. Their involvement is crucial to the local parishes, fostering spiritual growth, providing financial support, and empowering women to take an active role in the Church and society.
Our Story
The Catholic Women's League of Canada (CWL) is a vital presence in our local parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Freelton. They are deeply committed to the national theme, "Catholic and Living It" (Jan. 2022-Dec. 2023), which aligns perfectly with their dedication to making a difference in our community, in line with the provincial sub-theme "Go Make a Difference" (2022-2024) and diocesan theme, "Sharing His Promise, Love and Hope!" (2022-2024).
Led by President Pauline von Zuben and Secretary Barbara Laking, the CWL is an active force in our parish. They organize events, fundraisers, and community outreach programs, support the less fortunate, and advocate for social justice. They embody the values of our Church and foster a strong sense of community and service.
The council's next event is on Sunday, November 26th, 2023 for the Parish Advent Party following the 11:00 AM Mass.

We are blessed to have the CWL in our parish, and their dedication is a testament to the importance of their presence. For more information and to stay updated on their activities, please visit the CWL Hamilton Diocesan website. You can also contact our local council officers via email at cwl@olmcf.com. The CWL continues to make a significant difference in the lives of our parishioners, and we are grateful for their ongoing support and dedication.
