Our
Parish Picnic
August 18th, 2024 was a milestone for our parish as we gathered for our first-ever parish picnic since I joined Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in June of last year.
I’ve dreamed of seeing our community come together in this way, and I’m thrilled to share that the day was nothing short of incredible. It marked our first big community event since the pandemic, and the joy and togetherness were felt by everyone.

The day started with a bit of a scare—a cloudy sky and the threat of a storm—but, in true blessing, the sun broke through just as we were about to start, filling our picnic with warmth and light. We couldn’t have asked for a better setting!

A Beautiful Day for Fellowship, Fun, and Games

With a wonderful crowd, delicious food, and the perfect weather, the picnic became a fantastic success. We enjoyed an array of treats—hot dogs, burgers, sambuka, cake, and so much more. Everywhere you looked, there were smiles, laughter, and warm conversations. The laughter of children playing, families catching up, and friends reconnecting brought our parish alive in a way that felt refreshingly new yet comfortingly familiar.

One of the highlights of the day was the incredible array of games, designed to bring out the fun for people of all ages! From relay races to classic lawn games, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The joy on the faces of both kids and adults as they joined in was infectious, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day. The games created memories and laughter that will stay with us for a long time.

The joy didn’t just stop at the picnic grounds.
Mass that morning was packed, with everyone eager to start the day together in prayer and thanksgiving. It was truly a beautiful sight, one that reminded us of the strength and warmth of our community.

A Heartfelt Thanks to Our Sponsors and Volunteers!

Our local businesses deserve a special shoutout for their generosity. Their support added extra touches that made the day even more memorable. I encourage all of you to remember them when you’re out and about and to express our thanks on behalf of the parish.
Of course, the picnic would not have been possible without the hard work of our organizing committee, the dedicated volunteers from St. Mary’s High, and our amazing parish secretary, Angela. I would love to take the credit, but the truth is, their tireless efforts made the day come together so seamlessly. I am beyond grateful for each of you.

Looking Ahead to More Joyful Gatherings

This picnic was more than just a fun day; it was a reminder of the love, strength, and support we share as a parish family. Many parishioners shared how much they appreciated the chance to gather after so long and how this experience has renewed a sense of unity and belonging. We are already looking forward to making this an annual tradition, filled with the same joy, fellowship, and fun.
Thank you to everyone who made this day unforgettable. Let’s keep this spirit alive, continue to grow in our faith, and look forward to more gatherings in the future.

With immense gratitude,
Fr. Arpee
